Is there any way to avoid a delta between people’s perceptions of you, and you?  Or is the notion that the delta can ever approach zero as silly as the idea that there is but one you?

Perhaps my perception of me is not me.  Then who am I?  Am I some weighted average of aggregate perceptions of me, including my own?  What weight does my own perception get?  Is the weighting factor fixed, or is it situational (or perhaps even a function of both time and situation)?

I didn’t think he was an asshole.  But now?  I am not so sure.
